Thieves deserve a special place in hell. Especially those that steal from a guy who has worked tirelessly on this amazing SCCA autocross build for over a decade, taking an Impreza L and turning it into a regular top FP performer at SCCA Solo National events, and now caged, turbo’d and running XP.
The vehicle was last seen in Cleveland, OH Nov 10, safely tucked into its home trailer, a white Haulmark 24' enclosed with OH plates SUG 2215. The trailer, with the car inside, was stolen sometime between Sunday afternoon and this evening (Wed Nov 13th). There was nothing else inside the trailer besides the Impreza (which the XP build was just finished this summer), a spare tire, a sweaty carbon-fiber helmet, and some old racing shoes that should probably burn in a fire.
Jay Storm, the owner, has helped many enthusiasts over the years learn about and build Subarus. He has crewed on teams that have done Rally America, PPIHC and more. He’s built EJ’s for so many Subaru enthusiasts I don’t know how many he’s done over the years, and one of the go-to guys providing a fountain of information on long-time Subaru communities like NASIOC. I can personally vouch that this car is a blast to drive. It was well thought out and meticulously done on a shoe-string budget.
It crushes me to think that someone like Jay, who put everything they had into a grassroots build, always putting other people first before completing his own build, would have it stolen. Oh and did I mention it was taken around Veteran’s day, and Jay is an Army Vet. #peoplesuck
Let’s get his car & trailer back to him. Once we have a case# and more detailed information for contacting authorities, we will post that information up here as well. In the meantime, I’ve shared a public Facebook post that is going around, with regular updates, parts lists and more.
